Appointments

After making our way back to Eugene for what we thought was a detour, we learned how deliberately God is directing our steps.  The Fidanzo’s rig needed some final work to run on vegi, so instead of going east from Portland, we decided to go south and then east from Eugene.  Tim and I showed up at Green Eye around 2pm and went for a walk to kill a few hours.  Within minutes we came across Kevin pushing a bicycle with a trailer attached to it, and his arm wrapped in bandages.  We began walking and talking with him, learning all about his life and his family.  We stopped for burritos, prayed for him, and walked away knowing that God had set up that appointment for us.  Our inconvenience was God’s design, and I’m glad we didn’t miss it by coming up with a ‘better plan.’

As we walked back to Green Eye, Andy called–they were 20 min away and . . . DIESEL WAS SPEWING EVERYWHERE!!!  They made it to Green Eye with another reminder that God is directing our path.  If that had happened anywhere other than within minutes of the mechanics who built the system, it would have been much more disastrous.  So Andy got to get his hands dirty and learn a little bit more about his engine, and after 6 more hours of work on the Fidanzo rig instead of 2, we were off . . . again.

We were all tired so we decided to stop at a church about an hour outside Eugene and call it a night.  As we drove Tim noticed that the diesel tank gauge was dropping and the veg tank gauge was rising.  Not good.  After praying through the discouragement, we all felt the Lord’s peace fall on us, and we knew that God was setting up one more appointment for us with Clark, the mechanic.
